Terms of Service
Last updated: July 26, 2026
These terms cover your use of the Stringfellow app and website, provided by m0ther.ai. By using them, you agree to these terms. Plain language throughout — if anything is unclear, ask us at support@stringfellow.music.
1. What Stringfellow is
Stringfellow is an AI-powered guitar companion: you talk to it, and it answers with explanations, chord diagrams, and fretboard visuals. It requires an internet connection and a compatible device.
2. Your account
You need an account to use Stringfellow’s personal features. You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure and for what happens under your account. You must give us accurate information, and you can delete your account at any time from inside the app — see delete your account.
3. Subscriptions and billing
- Stringfellow is offered with a free trial, after which a subscription applies.
- Subscriptions are billed through the App Store or Google Play, under their terms. We never receive your payment details.
- Your trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. Cancel any time in your store’s subscription settings; you keep access until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds are governed by the store’s refund policies (Apple or Google), not by us — request them through the store.
- Deleting your Stringfellow account does not cancel a store subscription — cancel it in the store separately.
4. Not a substitute for a human teacher
Stringfellow gives general guidance on playing the guitar. It cannot see your hands, hear your technique, or assess your physical condition. If you feel pain or strain while playing, stop and consult a qualified teacher or medical professional. You use technique suggestions at your own risk, and you’re responsible for practising safely.
5. AI-generated content
The tutor’s spoken and written replies are generated by AI and may occasionally be wrong or incomplete. Chord voicings and note maps come from curated data and computed music theory, but the surrounding conversation is generated — use your judgement, especially for anything beyond the app’s diagrams.
6. Acceptable use
Don’t misuse the service. In particular, don’t:
- attempt to break, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the app or its backend;
- use it to generate unlawful, harassing, or infringing content;
- resell or redistribute the service or its output as your own product;
- share your account or circumvent subscription limits;
- use it to request copyrighted song transcriptions — the app teaches from public-domain material, abstract progressions, and original exercises by design.
7. Your content
You keep whatever rights you have in what you say to the tutor. You give us (and the third-party AI services that power the app) permission to process your messages and voice audio solely to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Our content
The Stringfellow name, app, site, design, and original content belong to m0ther.ai. Chord data is derived from openly licensed sources used under their licences. You may not copy or reuse our branding or content without permission.
9. No warranties
Stringfellow is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, m0ther.ai is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Stringfellow. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Changes and termination
We may update the app, these terms, or discontinue the service. We’ll post updated terms here with a new date. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and disputes will be handled in the courts of British Columbia, Canada.
